Black-Rope Tele

This pickup set uses materials and windings you would find on an early blackguard Tele. Hand wound using 43 gauge plain enamel wire on the neck pickup, 42 gauge wire on the bridge pickup and alnico 3 magnets in a flat no-stagger fashion with black vulcanized fiber flatwork.  The neck pickup uses a chrome plated nickel-silver cover.  The sound of this set is a thicker twang and warm neck pickup.  Please read below about the vintage brass cover option.

*Optional brass covers*
- The first Fender Teles and Broadcasters were intended to have a very warm neck pickup tone to emulate the big box guitars of the era.  The brass cover is a big contributor to this quality of tone.  Even when wound on the cool side, a brass covered Tele neck pickup will exhibit a warm, soft tone.  Wound on the hot side, it will have more mid range punch, but there will be less treble and less clarity in the bass.  If you want a more Strat like sounding neck pickup, I suggest using a nickel silver cover.  Still, there is no way to achieve the unique sound of a brass covered Tele neck pickup with other cover materials.

White-Rope Tele

This pickup set uses materials and windings you would find on a mid 50's to early 60's Tele.  Hand wound using 43 gauge plain enamel wire on the neck pickup with alnico 5 magnets, 42 gauge wire with staggered alnico 5 magnets on the bridge pickup and black vulcanized fiber flatwork.  This set is for those who love a more scooped mid range and bright twang, without being thin.  Very traditional Tele tones.

1950 Black-Rope

This is a bridge pickup modeled after the earliest Fender guitars, namely Broadcaster's.  This pickup uses larger diameter alnico 3 magnets hand wound with 43 gauge wire.  The sound of this pickup is slightly twangy with an added "grunt" and fatness.

All sets come RWRP stock.  Please request non-RWRP if you dont want hum canceling in the combined position.
Blackguard Alnico 3 is flat stagger only.  White Ropes are available staggered (stock) and flat as an option.
